Myotherapy Vs Remedial Massage

We are often asked about the difference between Myotherapy and Remedial Massage. Clinical Myotherapist’s graduate with a Bachelor Degree after completing 4 years at University and have a deeper understanding of the body, anatomy and physiology when compared to a Remedial Massage Therapist. However, both modalities fall under the Soft Tissue Therapy banner and are hands-on forms of physical therapy used to treat and prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement which is caused by muscle tightness and/or myofascial dysfunction.
At Reach Myotherapy all our practitioners have strong core values to promote health and wellness, offering early intervention in the hope of preventing conditions from worsening and requiring other treatments.

Myotherapy

As Myotherapists we have extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. Our aim is to trace any pain and discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.
Myotherapists have the skills and qualifications to assess and treat muscles, joints and nerves using a variety of treatment modalities such as soft tissue manipulation, myofascial stretching, dry needling, cupping and rehabilitative exercises.
All our Therapists are registered and qualified to assess and manage muscular injury and pain and have the ability to determine which form of treatment is best suited for the patient’s needs.
The treatment provided by our Therapists can be complimentary to that provided by other allied health practitioners (e.g Physiotherapist, Podiatrist or Osteopath) and may be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage Therapists work exclusively on manipulating superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function, release muscular tension, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being.
Remedial Massage is most commonly performed on conditions that are either already diagnosed, or non-specific injuries (tightness, soreness) and is perfect for relief, whether you suffer long time, chronic pain, have postural related muscle tightness or simply want to relax and unwind.
Sports Massage is  a blend of remedial techniques that aims to enhance performance and help overworked muscles to recover quickly. This type of massage relaxes and tones the muscles and is also very useful for injury prevention among sporting athletes.
All our staff are qualified and experienced Massage Therapists, specialising in Sports, Remedial, Pregnancy and Relaxation Massage.
